Haldor Topsoe celebrates opening of Tehran office

Today, Topsoe – a global technology, catalyst and services vendor to the petrochemical and refining industry – officially opened its offices in Tehran at a ceremony. With the new office, Topsoe will reinforce its already strong ties with Iranian petrochemical and refining companies.
“We are excited to open the new office and resume the great working relationship with Iran and the companies here. It means that we are close to our Iranian customers and partners so we can be the responsive and agile business partner they need,” says Mr. Per K. Bakkerud, Executive Vice President of Topsoe’s Chemical Business Unit and the EMEA region.

3D Printing Our Way to a Greener World
Additive manufacturing is more environmentally friendly than traditional manufacturing for several reasons.
3D printers are the most powerful machines ever invented because they can make finished products—with all their parts—fully assembled. They may also be the greenest machines ever built.
Driven by a digital blueprint, these printers build layer upon layer of fused ceramics, glass, sand, plastic, metal, or other materials. In contrast, traditional manufacturing depends on assembly lines, lots of low-cost labor and mass production. Today, much of that manufacturing takes place in far-off lands, and products must be shipped in long and complex supply chains that extend around the world. All of this has a large energy footprint.

Revenue of the RHI Group was down 8.0% on the comparative period of 2015 and amounted to € 830.2 million in the first half of 2016. In the Steel Division, revenue decreased by 5.6% especially due to a weaker business development in South America, Europe and China. In the Industrial Division, the decline in revenue by 14.4% compared with the first half of 2015 is among other things attributable to lower deliveries in the cement/lime, glass and environment, energy, chemicals business units.
The operating EBIT amounted to € 70.2 million in the first half of the year. Compared with the first half of 2015, at € 68.6 million, this is an increase by 2.3% despite the decrease in revenue. Calderys invented and patented Low Cement Castable (LCC) technology. Furthermore, we have developed a large family of these products for all industries as they present very impressive mechanical characteristics and can compete with bricks.
In addition to regular guing castables, Calderys continued to iovate by inventing a new guing installation technique for LCC with specific formulations and guing machines—both patented. Using the same amount of mixing water as traditionally vibrated LCCs, these guing mixes, named "Low Porosity Dense Guing (LPGM)," have mechanical properties matching their corresponding LCCs; exceptional Cold Crushing Strength and abrasion resistance, very good deformation under load values, great thermal shock resistance, and excellent corrosion resistance. In addition to these characteristics, LPGMs have proven to offer a service life comparable to that of cast-vibrated LCCs.

Monolithic Refractories
Monolithic refractory is the name normally given to all unshaped refractory products, the word monolithic coming from the word monolith meaning ‘big stone’.
Monolithic refractories are special mixes or blends of dry granular or cohesive plastic materials used to form virtually joint free linings. They are unshaped refractory products which are installed as some form of suspension that ultimately harden to form a solid mass. Most monolithic formulations consist of large refractory particulates (an aggregate), fine filler materials (which fill the inter particle voids) and a binder phase (that gels the particulates together in the green state).
Monolithic refractories represent a wide range of mineral compositions and vary greatly in their physical and chemical properties. Some are low in refractoriness while others approach high purity brick compositions in their ability to withstand severe

Advanced Refractories, Yield Improvement
The 110T ladles at this mini-mill making rail and structural steel, have average campaigns of 70 heats using brick sidewalls and flat precast bottoms. After every heat, the average amount of steel left in the ladle was approximately 1.18 tons.
